οῖον το γλυκύμαλον ερεύθεται άκρῳ ἐπ᾽ ύσδῳ

Just like the sweet apple that blushes on top of a branch,

άκρον επ᾽ ακροτάτῳ λελάθοντο δε μαλοδρόπνεσ,

the topmost apple on the topmost branch.

It has eluded the notice of the apple pickers.

ου μαν εκλελάθοντ᾽, αλλ᾽ ουκ εδύναντ᾽ επίκεσθαι.

in the sky she floats, flooding the shadowed earth

αργυρια γᾶν .

with clear silver light.
