1. सुमना: सर्वदा धर्मे चेतो दध्यात्

good thoughts allways in moral mind should give

2. हा दृश्णे, किं जहासि माम् ?

alas DrShne, what you-abandon me

3. यदि मां वृका: पश्येयु: तर्हि ध्रुवो मे मृत्यु: इति चिन्तयित्वा स नर: वृकेभ्य: अबिभेत्

if me wolves should see, then certain my death

having thought the man from wolves feared

4. इन्द्राय इदं न मम, अग्नये इदं न मम इति उक्त्वा ब्राह्मणा एतस्मिन्नग्नावन्तं जुह्वति

to Indra this not of me, to Agni this not of me

having spoken Brahmans on this fire food sacrifice

5. माधवो नाम वणिग् धान्यं मिमीते कुडवेन

of a man named Vanig grain measures with measuring cup

6. यौ दम्यौ अन्योन्यं न जहीत: तौ सम्ब्द्धौ इति उच्यते

2steers who each other not abandon they2 bound together it is said

7. एवं हि दृश्यते लोके / जन: अयं परकर्मणि प्रवर्तमान: स्वं कर्म जहाति /

thus indeed was seen in world,

person this another's action engaging

one's own action abandons

यथा तक्षक: सम्राज: कर्मणि प्रवर्तमान: त्वं कर्म जहाति

as carpenter-emperor in action engaging

one's own action abandons

8. येभ्यो भगवान् शक्तिं ददाति ते कस्माद् बिभ्यति

to those lord power gives they from where fear

9. गृहं आगतस्य मुने: पादौ जनक: अक्षालयत् /

house having come of sage, feet man washed

पश्चात् स तस्मै अमूनि फलानि अददात्

after he to him those fruits gave

10. ईश्वर: अज्ञानं मे दातु ज्ञानं च मे ददातु

let God ignorance to me cut, and knowledge to me gave

11. येभ्य: सर्वे लोका अबिभयु: तान् राक्षसान् वने राम: अहन्

for who all worlds feared the demons in forest Rama killed

12. दरिद्रान् बिभृहि / मा धनवदूभ्यो धनं देहि

poor let you-support, not to rich money you-give

13. युवाम् अस्मभ्यं धनं दत्तं इति जना अब्रुवन् /

let you2 to us money give people spoke

तदा तौ अब्रूताम् - पूर्वम् आवाभ्यां युष्मभ्यं धनं दत्तम् /

then they2 spoke, beforehand let from them2 to you-all money give

यूयम् आवाभ्यां किं अदत्त ? इति

you-all to those2 what gave

14. बलवते सम्राजे पुत्रं ददाति ईश्वर इति ऋत्विजो हवींष्यग्नौ जुह्वति

to strong emperor son gives God

priest in sacrificial-fire sacrifices

15. यम् इषुं हस्ते बिभर्षि तेन इमं राक्षसं जहि,

arrow which in hand you-hold with him this demon you-must-kill

पाहि पाहि च न: अबलान् इति जना रुदन्ति

and protect us weak people cry

16. यतो यदा अहम् अभाषे

as when I spoke

तदा सा अभिमुखं कर्णं ददाति तत: तस्या: मयि स्नेह इति वेद्नि

then her towards-face action gives

thence from her on me affection I-know

17. यस्मै मां पिता अददात् न तम अहं जीवन्तं हास्यामि इति सुकन्या अब्रवीत्

for which me father gave no to him

I live I-throw good girl spoke

18. रामस्य भार्यां जहिहि जहीहि जहाहि इति बिभीशनो रावणाय अकभयत्

Rama's wife abandon-abandon you-must-abandon

Bibhishana to Ravana said

19. इन्द्राय किं जुहुयाम

for Indra what should-we-sacrifice

20. सर्वे जना राक्षसात् अविभयु: ग्रामं च अजहु:

all people from demon feared and house we-abandoned

21. यानि पात्राणि अहम् अक्षालयन् तानि त्वं कुत्र अदधा: ?

dishes which I washed, them you where put
