chapter 25 2nd Class

1. धीमन्तो जना भगवन्तम् अस्तुवत

wise people lord praised

2. मतिमन्तम् आचार्यं नुवन्तु भवन्त: /

thoughtful teacher they-must praise you

आचार्यस्य प्रसादेन अज्ञानम् अदाम

of teacher by clearness ignorance was cut

3. ईश्वर: अस्मान् पातु / ईश्वरम् एव वयं नमाम: नुम: च

God us protect, God we salute and praise

4. शार्दूला: भल्लूकानां पिशितं लिहताम्

tigers of bears flesh they-must lick

हे वीरा:, भवन्त: शत्रूणाम् उरांसि शस्त्रै: दान्तु

hey heros, you enemy's thighs with weapons must cut

शृगाला: च तेषां शत्रूणां शरीराणि अदन्तु

and jackals of their weapons bodies eat

5. भक्तिमान् गुरु: प्रातरुत्थाय नद्या: प्रसन्ने जले अस्नात्, सूर्यं च अस्तौत्

devotional guru morning-sunrise of river in clear water

bathed, and sun set

6. दास उपवनम् अयात्, तीक्ष्णेन कुठारेण च चन्दन-वृक्षम् अदात्

servant near forest went

with sharp axe and sandal-wood tree cut

7. महता परिश्रमेण स सम्राट् हिमवन्तं पर्वतं यात्वा भल्लूकान् अपश्यत्

with great exertion the emperor himalaya mountain

having gone bears saw

8. मकर: शार्दूलस्य पिशितं लेढि

crocodile tiger's flesh licks

मार्जार: पय इति मत्वा चन्द्रकिरणान् लेढि

cat milk having thought moon-rays licks

9. यदा स शक्तिमान्वीर: शत्रो: शिर: अदात् ,

when the powerful-hero enemy’s head cut

तदा तस्य शत्रो: सर्वा भार्या वनम् अयु: / तत्र ता अरुवन्

then his enemy's wives forest went, there they cried

10. आचार्यस्य पुत्रो यदा धेनुं दोग्धि तदा कश्चिद् गर्दभ: तत्र अगत्य तत् पयो लेढि

teacher's son when cow milks

then some ass there having gone that milk licks

11. भल्लूका नारिकेलान् लिह्यु: , किन्तु ते तान् न अद्यु:

bears coconuts must lick

but they them no eat

गजा: तु नारिकेलान् अदन्ति

but elephants coconuts eat

12. हे बाला:, यूयं जिह्वाभि: सर्वाणि फलानि अलीढ

hey boys, you-all with tougues all fruits licked

अधुना युष्माकम् आचार्य: कथम् इमानि अद्यात्

now your(pl) teacher how these might eat

13. यदि इदं जगत् नास्सीद् तदा चन्द्र: सूर्य: च वियति नाभाताम्

if this world was not

then moon and sun in sky not exist

ईष्वर एव अभात्

God not exist

अधुना पीश्वरस्य एव तेजसा सूर्य: न्द्रश्च: च आकाशे तिष्ठत: भात: च

now with lustre sun and moon

in sky stands appears and

14. यदस्ति तदस्ति, यन्नास्ति तन्नास्ति

which is that is, which is not that is not

एषोऽगदो मुनीन् दु:खात् पाति

this medicine sages from suffering protect

15. हे ईश्वर, पाहि पाहि मां दु:खेभ्य:

hey God protect me from sufferings

16. यदा स कुकवि: कुकाव्यानि पठति

when the bad-poet bad-poetry reads

तदा कोचित् जना रुवन्ति,

then some people cry

कोचिच्च कोपेन तस्य कवे: काव्यपुस्तकं दान्ति

and some with anger of his poet poetry-book cut

17. तस्य मुने: आश्रमे शार्दूला अपि धेनू: पान्ति

of his sage in ashram also cows they-protect

शृगाला अप्यजानां ललाटानि स्नेहेन लिहन्ति

jackals even ignorent foreheads with affection lick

मकरा अपि बालेभ्य: कथा: ख्यान्ति

crocodiles even to boys stories they-tell

शीता वाता वान्ति, जनानां च परिश्रमं दान्ति

cold winds blow and of people exertion cut

सर्वे मुनय ईश्वरस्य भक्त्या भान्ति

all sages of God with devotion shine

ईश्वरं च नुवन्ति

and God they-praise

18. मुनि: भाषितवान् - हे पिशुना:, सुमनसां शान्तिं मा दात

sage spoke, hey wicked-people of good thoughts peace

must not cut

अन्यत्र यात / ईश्वरो युश्मान् पातु इति

elsewhere you-all must go, God you-all must protect
