--- chapter 15 ---

 

  1.   of poets   in assembly   having instructed

     the king    of this poet

     of poems    virtues    examined

 

 

    in poems   virtues   having seen   clearly

    the king    to this skillful poet, much money   offered

 

  2. When   some husband    wife   belittles

 

 

    Then   she  also    the husband,

    fool  having thought,    belittles

 

  3.  shastras  to present    gurus   not   students houses   go

 

  

     however   students  only,   of 2gurus   house 

     having come,    shastras    obtain

 

     but  if   today    students   to school

     not might come,  gurus   where   might be

 

  4.   the king   sage   having approached

     to him   much   gold    offered

 

     sage   that gold, with 2hands   having recieved,

     on ground   threw

 

 

    he  said,   gold  having seen   not  I  depressed

    nor   elated    what   to me   with gold

 

 

    your gold   yours only    in palace   let rest

 

  5.  as  old men   act,  so  boys  also  behave

 

      whence  boys   old men   follow

 

 

    thence   old men  somewhere  boys  avoid

 

    and boys   them   avoid

 

  6.   When   the son   old father and mother

     in forest     give up  

 

 

    with beautiful wife   by swift horse   for village  set out

 

 

    Then  the 2old parents    son   accused

 

  7.

    our kings brave army, the enemies country was attacked

 

 

    and them  all enemies   having conquered

    their all  villages   burned down

 

  8.  When      with wife

 

 

     Then  the skillful woman  him  commanded

 

 

    from this house   now  outside  go

 

 

    when  husband  from house  having left

    to well   set out

 

    Then  she   to him   said

 

 

    in my well  also  your body   to see

    I do not wish    elsewhere  go

 

  9.  in mans life  pleasures and pains  always  proceed

 

 

    all people   sometime   happy  find

 

    and sometime  suffering   experience

 

 

    but   people  happiness   to obtain

    and suffering  to avoid    wish

 

 

    but sages  pleasure and pain  having given up

    forest  only  dwell

    

 

    of these thoughts   pleasures and pains

    having forgotten   in God  only   take rest

 

 

    whatever happiness    sages   God  

    having experienced      obtain

 

 

    that   never   changes

 

  10.   some lame man    this city  dwells

 

  

     he  whenever  by road   goes

 

  

     thenever    mean boys   him  having seen

     follows and laughs

 

  

     if even   the lame     those boys

     with hands   to hit   is able

 

  

     even so  he   them    accuses

 

  11.

      even if  mothers   them  not allow

 

      even as    those   girls   with boys

      to play   want

 

   

      When   they   with boys   disagree-dispute

 

   

      Then      they    with girls   play

 

  12.

      When   the guru   came

 

      Then   him   having seen    stood up

 

      When   they   guru    saluted

 

  

      Then he said,  ley  boys   sit

 

  

      shastras   to learn   you   here  come

 

  

     even as  your thoughts  elsewhere  wander around

 

  

     girls  guru  having saluted  spoke

 

         hey guru    you    the sastras   read

        there   we   to wander around   want

 

  

         where   you     and  your  shastras   should not be
