lesson 3 bhojanālayasya pārśve gamanam

Restaurant sidewalk,

T bahavaḥ aśvāḥ vartante atra.

there are many horses here,

bhavatā aśvena gamyate vā ?

do you travel by horse ?

G mamāśvaḥ nāsti. sarvatra pādābhyām yāmi.

i do not have a horse, i walk everywhere

bhavatyāstu aśvo’sti vā?

do you have a horse ?

T aśvaḥ grahaṇīyaḥ, (aśvaḥ gṛhyeta)

i will get a horse , ( i will be getting a horse )

atīva caraṇena santoṣo na bhavati.

(aticaraṇena bhogaḥ na vartate)

too much walking is not enjoyable for me.

ādhunike muhūrte sukham anubhavitum icchāmi.

i want to enjoy the present moment as much as possible

G aśvena gamanam ādhunikasya muhūrtasya sukham dātum śaknoti vā?

will riding a horse bring you to the present moment ?

T sutarām caraṇāt…

more so then walking.

kintu niścitam nāsti, yataḥ bhavatī smayate.

but I’m sure not as much as your smile

granthālayasya mārgam darśayitum icchati vā?

would you point the way to the library ?

G paśyati bhavān tam unnataṃ vṛkṣaṃ tatra?

do you see that tall tree there ?

T ām, taṃ vṛkṣaṃ paśyāmi.

yes i see that tree

G tataḥ sa bhaviṣyati. gṛham śvetavarṇaṃ vartate.

it is just past there, the building is white

T anugṛhīto’smi.
