7.40 all gods

1 o śruṣṭis vidathyā sam etu

attentive-hearing with-rite come together

prati stomam dadhīmahi turāṇām

laud may-we-place-put of the surpassing ones

yat adya devas savitā suvāti

when today god savitṛ will-generate

syāma asya ratninas vibhāge

may-we-be of-treasure at-his-apportionment

2 mitras tat nas varuṇas rodasī ca

mitra varuṇa that to-us and the 2 worlds

dyubhaktam indras arymā dadātu

heaven-distributed indra aryaman let-give

dideṣṭu devī aditī rekṇas vāyus ca

let goddess aditi designate the legacy vāyu

yat niyuvaite bhagas ca

will-harness and bhaga

3 sas id ugras astu marutas sa

let-him-be powerful O let him be headstrong

suṣmī yat martyam pṛṣadaśvās

just that mortal whom you

avātha uta īm agnis sarasvatī

will help and agni sarasvatī spur him on

junanti na tasya rāyas paryetā asti

there exists no one who can encompass his wealth

jū 3pl. speed pari etā i go

4 ayam hi netā varuṇa rtasya

because this leader of truth varuṇa

mitras rājānas aryamā apas dhus

kings have accomplished their work

suhavā devī aditis anarvā te

and goddess aditi, easy to invoke and withour assault

nas amhas ati parṣan ariṣtān

us they-will-be-brought unharmed across difficult straits

5 asya devasya mīlhuṣas vayās

there is propitiation for this god who grants rewards(rudra)

viṣṇos eṣasya prabhṛthe havirbhis

at the ritual offering to quick viṣṇu with oblations

vide hi rudras rudriyam mahitvam

for rudra knows his own rudrian might
