· asti nadītīre alpam samantatas vṛkṣapariveṣṭitam devamandiram /

is on-river’s-bank small all-around tree-surround temple

· tat samīpe kecid gulmā api rohanti /

near some clumps-of-trees also grow

· teṣām puṣpitaśākhānām madhye

bahavas alayas parāgānveṣaṇe paripatanti /

· alivirāvas vihagaśabdais susvaram miśrībhavati /

· pratyaham narās nāryaśca samīpasthebhyas grāmebhyas

tad devamandiram pūjanārtham āgacchanti /

· mandirābhyantare viṣṇos pratimā tiṣṭhati /

inside-of-temple of-Viṣṇu image stands

kaivartā: matsyān jālena grahītum dūratas eva āgacchanti /

fishermen fish by-water to-grab from-a-far come

· tatra jalāśayatīre matsyān paktvā bhakṣayanti /

there on-lake-bank fish having-cooked they-cause-meal

· asya jalāśayasya samīpe mahāvanam vidyate /

of-that-lake near great-forest is-known

· tadvane prabhūtā mṛgaprakārā vasanti /

in-that-forest many deer-kinds dwell

· pratidivasam vyādhagaṇās tān mṛgān mṛgayitum araṇyam praviśanti /

daily hunters the deers to-hunt forest enter

· tān vyādhān dṛṣṭvā eva te mṛgās apasaranti /

the hunters having-seen the deers go-away

· yatas vyādhānām iṣavas atiśīghās tatas mṛgās bahavas mriyante /

whence of-hunters arrows excessively-fast thence deers many have-died

· kecid śarahatās pṛthivyām patitvā tatra eva mriyante /

some arrow-killed on-earth having-fallen there have-died

· kecana punar sahasā na mriyante /

some again immediately no have-died

· vyādhānām tīkṣṇaśarais hatā api te dūram apadrutya
