vihagās tasmai pratyaham āhāram ayacchan /

atha kadācid kaścid mārgāras teṣām vihagānām
one-day some cat of-those-birds
śāvakān bhakṣayitum tatra āgatas /

tam mārjāram dṛṣṭvā eva sarvai:s vihagais

tasmāt bhayena āviṣṭais kolāhalas kṛtas /
from-that-with-fear filled-with
confused-noise was-made

tam kolāhalam śrutvā tena andhena gṛdhreṇa
uktam /
that sound having-heard by-the-blind-vulture uttered

kas ayam āgacchati iti /

sas mārjāras tam gṛdhram avalokya hā hatas asmi iti

bhayena cintayitvā savinayam abhyabhāṣata /
