4. सुखं क: न इच्छति

5. स्वल्पं भोजनम्

scant food (is)

6. जलम् अश्वान् नर: नयति

water horses man takes

7. क: त्वम् इति मां पृच्छत:

8. कं पर्वतं पण्डित: गच्छति

9. अत्र क्रोध: न वसति इति वनं प्रविशत:

10. शीघ्रं वचनं न अवगच्छाम:

11. आचार्य पर्वत इव स गज:

O teacher, mountain like the elephant

12. कं पुन: पृच्छामि

13. किं शिश्या: यूयम्

(are) pupils you ?

14. जलं नरबाला: प्रविशन्ति

water men(and)children enter

15. रमणीयम् अधुना तत् फलम् इति विस्मिता: वदन्ति

pleasent now that fruit astonished (they)say

16. कथम् अत्रापि बाला:

how(what) here too children

17. दु:खानि अपि फलम् अनयन्ति

sorrows even rewards bring

18. बाला अत्र किं सुखं पश्यथ इति शिश्यान् आचार्य: वदति
