· asti ayodhyāyām cūḍāmaṇi: nāma kṣatriya: /

there-is in-Ayodhyā Chūḍāmani warrior-class

· tena dhanārthinā mahatā lkeśena

by-him wealth-seeking with-great-pain

bhagavāns candrārdhacūḍāmaṇi: ciram ārādhita: /

venerable moon’s-half-as-crest-jewel-bearing long worshipped

prayed to a god wearing

· tata: kṣīṇapāpa: asau svapne darśanam dattvā

then with-destroyed-sin he in-sleep vision having-given

sins cleansed in a dream by a Yakshas

bhagavadādeśāt yakṣeśvareṇa adiṣṭa: /

from-his-holiness’-command by-Yaksha-lord was-instructed

· yat tvam adya prāta: buddhan kṛtvā udhyāne sthāsyasi

when you today early waking having-done in-garden secertly-stay

tata: asmin stāne samāgatam kanyā paśyasi /

then in-this-place having-approached girl you-see

tām puna: puna: cumbe: / sukham bhavāsi

her again again kiss happy she-will-be

· tata: tathā anuṣṭhite tat vṛttam /

then so accomplished that happened

· kintu sā sukham nasti / sā atīva du:kham bhavati

but she happy not is she very unhappy is

· sā pādaprahāra: ca vraṇa: ca ākrośa: ca

she kicked sratched screamed

· tata: prabhṛti nāpitā: svapnān puna: na kṛnoti

thence forward barber dreams no again make
