· ekadā bhagavata: garuḍasya yātrāprasaṅgena

once of-venerable-Garuḍa with-procession-occasion

sarve pakṣiṇa: samudratīram gatā: /

all birds to-sea-shore gone

· tata: kākena saha vartaka: calita: /

then with-crow quail set-out

· atha gopālasya gacchata: dadhi-bhāṅḍāt vāram vāram

now of-cowherd going from-curd-vessel again

tena kākena dadhi khādyate /

by-that-crow curds are-eaten

crow repeatedly stole and ate curds from pot which a cowherd was carrying on his head

· tata: yāvat asau dadhi-bhāṅḍam bhūmau bidhāya

then while he curd-vessel on-ground putting-down

urdhvam avalokate tāvat tena kāka-vartakau dṛṣṭau /

upwards looks, then by-him crow-quail were-seen

· tata: tena kedita: kāka: palāyita: vartaka: svabhāva-niraparādha:

then by-that alarmed crow fled-away quail by-own-nature-guiltless

mandagati: tena prāpta: vyāpādita: /

slow-motion by-him caught was-killed
