tatra tarutake dhanu:kāṅḍam sannidhāya supta: /

there at-tree’s-foot bow-arrow having-laid-down fell-asleep

· tatra kṣanāntare tanmukhāt vṛkṣacchāya: apagatā /

tatra in-another-moment from-his-face tree-shade departed

· tata: sūrya-tejasā tat-mukham vyāptam avalokya tat-ṛkṣa-sthitena

then by-sun’s-glare his-face reached seeing by-the-on-that-tree-standing

hansena kṛpayā pakṣau prasārya puna: tat-mukhe chāyā kṛtā /

by-goose with-pity both-wings having-spread-forth again on-his-face shade made

· tata: nirbharanidrāsukhinā tena mukhavyādānam kṛtam /

then by-sound-sleep-enjoying by-him mouth-opening was-made

· atha parasukham asahiṣṇu: svabhāvadaurjanyena sa: kāka:

now another’s-happiness not-bearing with-own-nature’s-wickedness the crow

tasya mukhe purīṣotsargam kṛtvā palāyita: /
