·      dakiṇa-samudra-tīre    ṭiṭtibhadampatī    nivasata:  /

         on-southern-sea-shore    sandpiper-pair   dwells

 

·      tatra   ca   asannaprasavā    ṭiṭtibhī    bhartāram    āha  /

         and  there  near-hatching    hen-bird    husband   accosts

 

·      nātha,   prasava-yogya-sthānam    nibhṛtam    anusandhīyatām  /

       master,   for-hatching-fit-place    concealed-one   let-be-arranged

 

·      ṭiṭṭibha:   avadat  /

 

·      bhārye    nanu   idam   eva    sthānam    prasūtiyogyam  /

         wife,     is-not    this   very   place   for-hatching-fit 

 

·         brūte  /    samudra-velayā   vyāpyate    sthānam    etat  /

        she   says    by-sea-tide        is-reached       place        this

                                     but  this place gets flooded    the  tide  comes  in

 

·      ṭiṭṭibha:   avadat  /

 

·      kim   aham   nirbala:    samudreṇa  ca   mahad-antaram  /   

what ?  am-I   powerless   by-sea   to-be-oppressed  ?

 

·      ṭiṭṭibha:   vahasya    āha  /

      hen        smiling   says

 

·      svāmins    tvayā    samudreṇa    ca   mahad-antaram  /     athavā 

        my-lord,   between   you    sea   and   great-difference            surely

 

·      tata:    kṛcchreṇa    svāmivacanān        tatra    eva     prasūtā  /

         then   with-difficulty   according-to-husband’s-word   she  there   just   laying

 

·      etat     sarvam     śrutvā     samudreṇa  api 

      this   all           having-heard   by-sea     also

      tat   chaktijānārtham     tadamāni     apahṛtāni  /

              his-strength-in-order-to-know     her-eggs    were-carried-off

 

·      tata:   ṭiṭṭibha:    śokārtā    bhartāram   āha  /

          then    hen    with-sorrow-pained    to-husband    says

 

·      nātha   kaṭam   āpatitam  /    tāni   anāni   me   naṭāni  /

           lord,   misery   has-come    those  eggs   of-me     are-lost

 

·      ṭiṭṭibha:   avadat  /    priye        bhaiī:  /   iti   uktvā

                                        dear   not   be-afraid            having-sais

 

·      pakiṇām    melakam    kṛtvā    pakisvāmina:   garuasya    samīpam   gata:  /

of-birds   assemblage   having-made,  of-bird-king-Garua   to-proximity   went

 

·      tatra   gatvā    sakalavṛttāntam   ṭiṭṭibhena

           there   having-gone   the-whole-event    by-sandpiper

      bhagavata:    garuasya    purata:    niveditam  /

               of-blessed-Garua      in-front    was-made-known

 

·      deva    samudreṇa   aham    svagṛhāvasthita:   vinā   aparādhena  eva  nigṛhīta:  /

sire,   by-sea    i    i-my-own-house-residing     without    offence  even  oppressed

          i  have  been  humiliated  by  the ocean  inside my own house though I had done nothing  wrong

·      tata:   tat   vacanam   ākarṇya    garutmatā    prabhu:   bhagavān    nārāyaṇa:

then   his-word   having-heard      by-Garua      lord        holy       Nārāyaṇa

  sṛṭisthitipralayahetu:   vijñapta:    samudram  anadānāya  adideśa  /

     of-creation-preservation-destruction-cause   informed     the-sea

                                                                           eggs-to-surrender   commanded

 

·      tata:    bhagavadājñām    maulau    nidhāya    samudreṇa

           then   his-holiness’-command   on-crest     having-placed    by-sea

          tāni   aṅāni    ṭiṭṭibhāya   samarpitāni  //

         those   eggs    to-sandpiper    given-back
